Winged Messenger is a portal for self-discovery. As you enter these pages you will be encouraged to set aside any beliefs and to open your mind. Words have power, they are imbued with energy – we give them a meaning.

As we search for the answers to all of life's questions, we receive them in so many ways. By what might look like a series of coincidences, we draw experiences to us that expand our awareness and further our growth.

How can we be sure they are real? What is the true nature of reality? How do we learn to cut through illusion and to discern the truth? Is it universal truth, or merely what 'feels right to us'?

In asking, the only thing that we may be certain of is that we will receive a reply. The path of discovery is littered with distractions, yet in our hearts, we know the way. It is as simple as rising above the situations we find ourselves in, in order to find a new perspective or vantage point. The more we are prepared to venture beyond the confines of our current paradigm, the closer we come to understanding our true nature, and to reaching the heights we are destined to achieve.

Shake off your doubts, release your fears, and pick up your wings.

There are many ways forward, each requiring only a leap of faith and the ability to transcend everyday concerns. Lift your eyes to the sun, and you shall know the brilliance of the stars. Let the moon illumine your way and fear not to tread where none have gone, for the road that is the steepest offers a magnificent view.

The journey of self leads in only one direction – onwards and upwards we must climb, ever evolving and gaining through direct experience. No one can make this journey for us. Many may offer comfort along the way yet ultimately, it is up to us to find the courage and fortitude that will serve us well as we make our way back towards what we know.

Our origins. Unity or 'Oneness', the creative essence that cannot be separated from our being, the 'Source' that imbues all things with the life-force that flows, forever spiralling to its point of naissance, just as we too are drawn like moths to the light. In recognising ourselves, we realise home.

The Process of Writing

There are many times when I have been writing that I've had to stop and question myself. Sometimes it is a feeling of physical discomfort that creeps in, almost a slight nausea that I now know is my own resistance. Who am I to write these words, what do I know? Am I preaching – I'm not an expert on this subject? Am I being repetitive?

If I begin with any kind of expectation of what I might write, I am usually surprised and forced to let go, squirming with my own anxieties about how I might be received. As soon as I relax into a rhythm and get past my own attempts at distraction, I seem to slip into a more exalted state where I start to see the method in what I sometimes view as madness – the long explanations that seem to be going nowhere, but always play an important part in getting to the point.

If I find I am either disagreeing or nodding along, as soon as I dare to have an opinion it is overturned by something greater than the powers of my limited perception. So I have learnt, and continue to learn anew, to trust this process. To just allow the words that insist on flowing onto the page to take their own course. To ignore any nagging doubts over grammar and structure, and concern over rhyme, and to be an observer – the facilitator of this stream of consciousness that pours forth as its own entity, in my words (are they my words?), with their own peculiar lilt – in all cases beyond my comfort zone, yet from a place that I may still call home.

I cannot separate myself from this process – it is through my experience that the words form, and they are also of my experience. I know on a deeper level that they 'ring true' because I must also live through each of the pages and chapters as they are integrated into my life, for without direct experience I would not allow myself to open up to the very essence of what they convey.

How can I talk of 'we' as a collective if I am not part of the collected sum of us – a representative of the mass of humanity – a single speck, a drop in the ocean of the growing pool of consciousness that contains 'All That Is'? I am any one of us, not unique or different, just expressing a view that has been filtered by my own experience yet is common to our worldly experience as we all seek to make sense of the world around us, and to find our place in the Universe which we inhabit.

Unconsciously, or consciously evolving, through the power of free will – it is our choice what we make of it. Through writing, I am discovering myself. And through sharing, I hope that others may do the same – find out more about themselves. In facing what we are afraid of we can soon put names to everything that holds us back. Setting aside each obstacle as it arises we are lighter, for burdens once removed leave a space.

We are lifted – a burst of fresh air ruffles our wings and we soon rise above any daily concerns. With the wings of our spirit we learn to leave our cages – the parameters we thought confined us – carried by the updraft, lifted by our own lightness of being, cautious at first and then, as instinct takes over, we begin to soar.
