Elementals

See Working with Elementals in the Elixir of Life section.

Earth

Gnomes: Origins, Europe. Protection and healing of wildlife. Live to 1000 years. 12 inches tall, peasant clothing, men in green or blue with red hats, women wear scarves on head.

Fire

Salamanders: Origins, Middle East. The spirit of fire, present when fires are lit. A lizard shape more than one foot in length. The strongest and most powerful elemental, ruled by a Djin. Call on their help for fire-lighting.

Air

Sylphs: Origins, Greece and Egypt. Small winged creatures with human-like features. Nearly transparent. Highest vibratory rate, often living centuries, up to 1000 years. Live atop mountains. Carried by the wind they move through grasses and the ethers of the Earth and are kindly towards humans, helping to bring inspiration. They are drawn to those who use their minds, particularly the creative arts.

Water

Undines: Origins, Greece. Like small sea horses with human faces. Stern yet playful, beautiful and graceful, often seen riding the waves of the ocean, or in rock pools or marsh lands. They are shimmering green and blue (connected with mermaids). They work with plants that grow under water and the motion of the water, living in rivers, waterfalls, lakes and coral caves. They work with the vital essences of plants, animals and humans, and they are very friendly and happy to serve.

Also: Faeries or fairies, nature spirits, devas, tree spirits and stone people, elves, sprites, mermaids, unicorns and other magical beings, or ‘little people’ can come under this ‘category’, of which there are many more examples, should we just acknowledge their existence!
