Who is Guiding Us?

How to connect and ask for help:

There are many ways we can connect with our guides and the simplest is to just ‘ask’. We need to take the time and get used to connecting – for it is not something we are accustomed to – yet when we get used to it, it will seem like the most natural thing and we will wonder why we haven’t done it before.

When we are born we come in with a guardian or protector, sometimes an Angel, oftentimes an Elder from a previous lifetime that reminds us of the wisdom we gained and seeks to connect us back to this ‘inner knowing’. Our ‘Higher Self’ or ‘Soul’ or ‘Divine Self’ or ‘Overself’ is the eternal part of us that is continually communicating through our emotions – our internal guidance system – to more or less keep us on the path we have chosen before coming into this ‘dimensional existence’. As a soul we have seen much, and this accumulated experience stays with us, most of the time ‘operating behind the scenes’ guiding the events in our life, presiding over sleep and feeding messages into our dreams. It is, in essence, a ‘Guardian Angel’ as we are constantly being aided and watched over, and gently guided to take action based on what feels right or good to us. Yet this is in fact part of us – the whole of us – and if we actively seek to, we can become integrated with our ‘Higher Nature’ and therefore connected to higher levels of consciousness and understanding beyond what we see. For all is not as it seems; our third dimensional world is but a fragment of the multi-dimensional existence we are living.

We are taught at an early age that everything must be quantifiable or proven – that science leads the way to human discovery, that logic and methods of reasoning are the only courses of action – so it is unnatural to reach beyond what we see, and it is not widely publicised that we can; that each and every one of us has a contingent of supporting loving beings helping us to be the best we can be.

We must only learn to listen, just as children relate to their invisible friends and believe that they are real – so too are ours – it’s just that they have become less visible to us over time. We may bring back our inner vision however, by just focusing; by taking the time to go within and make conscious contact with our ‘guides’.

Yet why do we say guides? Who are they all, and why do they change?

We need different support at different times. There are those who have chosen to work with us in a specific way, to help nurture our gifts, to help guide us through difficulties and transition, and to bring back knowledge gained from specific periods in the past.

If we have an Egyptian guide for instance, it is a call to go within, to meditate and to create a set or disciplined routine, in order to connect regularly and establish a ‘clear channel’, so that Ancient Wisdom may be brought forward.

Native Americans will remind us of Nature, and our role in protecting its delicate balance. They will call us to wild spaces, and to understand the Wisdom of the Elders. Atlantean guides may be connected to lessons where technology, power or use of crystals led to our untimely demise, and try and teach us that it is our heart, not the pursuit of power, that will bring about the most fulfillment in our lives, yet at the same time, they will guide us lovingly to remember the power we may have when it is used wisely, and with integrity. Native Shamans may teach us their wisdom and allow us to connect with the spirit realms, and our Totem or Power Animals, so we may assimilate their qualities into our lives and learn to listen to the Ancestors and spirits of the land.

We may be encouraged to use items we once owned, and remember our ability to travel astrally between different realms. Guides from any era in our past may appear to show us the qualities that may be called on, that are mirrored in us, and to help us remember what it is we have chosen to do – to help us ‘step up’ or come into our ‘full power’ – in terms of connecting once again to the truth that lies within our soul. Loved ones from our present life appear to gently reassure us and support our growth, often coming into our dreams, or making their presence known.
