Kunapipi (Australian Aboriginal)

Alice Springs 21/10/2007

Kunapipi is an Earth song – the songlines that connect beneath the surface and flow through the land. A song that may be sung to clear the energy that lies beneath, and to reassure the Earth Mother that all is well. A lullaby she may sleep by, a peaceful fluid chant that infuses the land with the Song of Creation. For in the beginning, all things were sung into existence and now the Earth Mother may sleep – resting after many days of creation – it is time to pause, to regenerate, to gather new energy for the birthing efforts that lie ahead as new creatures – new beings – are continuously created in this cycle.

The time of the waning moon, gentle reflection, an ending heralding a new beginning – the birth of a beautiful child that has been nurtured in the womb and will now emerge into a world with eyes full of wonder.

It is a welcome song, a song of hope, of love; of the feminine heart that connects so deeply with the one that must pass from the inner world to the outer world – from the embryonic fluids to the world of light and new sounds.

Welcome my child, you are much loved and blessed. Welcome to your new family; you are supported. Sleep my child, sleep. Rest your weary head in your mother’s arms, you have arrived.
