Hathor (Egyptian Goddess, Initiation)

31/7/2007

Hathor may take many forms. Traditionally there were seven repetitions all representing aspects of the self – the seven veils of illusion that must be overcome on the journey of self – at this time (Ancient Egypt) by the initiates, or priesthood and priestesses.

Each Hathor represented a chakra and the challenges that must be overcome to bring back the full force of Divine Oneness – the equivalent of the piecing together of Osiris – the restoration by magic of Isis, that all may once again be whole. Effectively the journey of ‘rebirthing’ as the connection to Source was once again fully realised – the release of separation – thus the cow is ‘all-seeing, all-hearing, and all-knowing’; the mirror of Hathor, a reflection of ourselves and the divinity we may find within, as all experiences in our lives mirror what we must accept or learn. For our reality is nothing but a reflection of our internal state, or balance, in return.

Thus the Goddess Hathor represents self-love, wisdom, gentleness on self, forgiveness and kindness. The motherly nurturing qualities of the creative aspect of the feminine – the bringer of life – an inner sense of joy and peace through understanding and embracing the qualities of motherhood. Unconditional love in its finest or purest form in the physical – the love of a mother for her child, and the love we must find for our inner child.
